Masaltos.com Supports Sevidragon’s Success at the Plaza de España Award

In the realm of sports, perseverance, and social integration, we are fortunate to be part of a beautiful project called Sevidragon.
Sevidragon is a dragon boat sports team, a modality of canoeing of Chinese origin that has been around for more than 2,000 years.
Today, we are celebrating! Sevidragon is a wonderful project that has recently been awarded the prestigious Premio Plaza de España. This recognition, given at the 2024 Sports Gala by the City Council of Seville through the Municipal Sports Institute, highlights the positive impact and exemplary work of Sevidragon in the sports and social fields.
Recognition of Sevidragon for Its Work in Social Inclusion
Specifically, Premio Plaza de España recognizes the person or entity that has contributed the most to tasks of integration and social inclusion. The event was attended by the Honorable Mayor of Seville, Mr. José Luis Sanz Ruiz, who emphasized the importance of Sevidragon’s inclusive and social commitment.
Premio Plaza de España, organized by the Government Delegation in Andalusia, are given to organizations, institutions, and individuals in the Andalusian community who have stood out in various social, cultural, sports, or scientific fields for the fulfillment, defense, and dissemination of the democratic values enshrined in the Spanish Constitution.
In this context, Sevidragon has proven to be an outstanding example, using sports as a tool for inclusion and well-being. Additionally, Sevidragon is the only club in the city of Seville that integrates breast cancer survivors and people with disabilities into its team, serving as a social benchmark for inclusion, equality, and perseverance through sports.
Sevidragon: Pioneer in Inclusion and the First Veteran Dragon Boat Festival
It is important to highlight that Sevidragon includes the BCS Sevilla team, made up of breast cancer survivors who train and compete on equal terms with the rest of the club members. Moreover, Sevidragon was a pioneer in the city by competing in the Andalusian Championship in the “paradragon” category, which consists of athletes with recognized functional diversity.
The Jury, in making their decision, valued highly the fact that in October 2023 Sevidragon organized an unprecedented event: I Festival Veterano de Barco Dragón. The main objective of this festival was to highlight the fundamental role of sports in the process of overcoming breast cancer. This event featured the participation of more than 400 athletes and an atmosphere that reflected not only the passion for sports but also the strength and unity of the community. The festival ended memorably with the celebration of the FNAC Live Seville Festival.
