MASALTOS.COM TEAM: NOT EVERYTHING IS SHOE BUSINESS #14

Antonio Fagundo is the CEO or General Director of Masaltos.com. He is a lawyer by profession so he knows well how to have a good mood and at the same time be so demanding with himself. Working with him might look easy or difficult, as with all chiefs, although he is a fervent defender of the good work environment. He always has an idea to apply to Masaltos.com and most importantly, he knows how to listen to his coworkers. Here we leave you with his story.

What do you do at Masaltos.com?

I am the CEO of the company, so I do everything from negotiating with the Japanese to changing a light bulb that has blown out in the warehouse. I have to admit that it is much easier to change the bulb, lol.

What do you like most about your work at Masaltos.com?

I like everything I do at Masaltos.com because it is my life. I love the shoes we make, I love dealing with customers and making them happy because, thanks to our shoes, they get taller. I am also lucky that the entire team that forms Masaltos.com are “internet kamikazes” because we test all the new tools that come up on the market, we continually innovate and stand at the technological forefront. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not, but that is part of doing business and learning.

What do you think has been your best moment in this company?

There have been many. Once we did a fashion report on the Flash Moda program on Spanish Television (TVE), on another occasion we also appeared on the television program Primer Impacto on Univisión for all of Latin America audience. I am very fond of the news article that the New York Times published about Masaltos.com and the growth of the European economy. My mother is very proud that her son has appeared in the New York Times (I am the envy of all mothers). The King of Spain, Felipe VI, congratulated us with our 25th anniversary doing business online. Although I suppose that my best moment was the day, my daughter said: “my dad works at Masaltos.com”. Yes, that was it.

What is your favorite Masaltos.com shoe?

Bardolino brown, Bristol brown and Sidney yellow. I have a weakness for yellow Sidney. I have one my own and I wear it almost every day.

If you could fulfill your dream of “having a coffee with someone famous”, who would you choose and why?

A friend of mine says that I am more fond of listening than talking, so I need someone I can listen to and talk to. I would like to have a coffee with Kurt Cobain or Jim Morrison and know what the real person behind the avatar was like, but I cannot anymore. Therefore, my dream meeting would be with chef José Andrés, the first Spanish candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize and one of the 100 most influential people in the world. We collaborate with many NGOs, so I think we would have plenty to talk about.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I am a frustrated hard rock musician. Music is what I like the most in the world so, whenever I can, I go to a concert. I also like to analyze the people who are close to me to learn from their behavior guidelines and apply it to Masaltos.com. You learn a lot from the people who are nearby. Finally, whenever I can, I travel the world (I have a photo album full of pictures made with the shirt of my soccer team, Real Betis Balompié, in many countries).

Make a wish

I am lucky that my parents founded Masaltos.com and that we are the second generation in charge of the business. I wish my daughters to be the third generation and that Masaltos.com continues to grow firmly over the next decade.
